This is the opening of Marnie. Here, dramatic music starts, which suggests
something important or exiting is going to happen.
This is immidiatly after the opening credits. It shows a close-up of a yellow
bag, we don't know why but it suggests its important in the film.
Furthermore, the music tempo and general mood changes upon the first scene, perhaps
trying to get the viewer to think about Marnie's personality.
The camera shot changes now (establishing), showing the good use of colour in this scene. Everything is dull except the yellow bag, again suggesting the importance of the bag, making the viewer question why.
The next scene shows a main character who is talking about money missing. This tells the audience that the yellow bag is obviously the money which is missing. Also it links the character with Marnie.
In this screenshot, it shows one of the women who works for the man shown in the previous scene. He is describing Marnie, as all his employee's are beautiful brunettes. It uses a mid shot to give us a good view of the character shown.
This shot is a close up of the yellow bag just like in the opening scene. This is done to emphasise
the importance of the bag, in order to make the audience question why.
This is a wide shot of Marnie, to show the audience the small environment and the still anonymous character of Marnie.
Here is another close up of the yellow bag in which Marnie possesses. This reveals what the bag contains (stolen money). This tells the audience that Marnie is a criminal but appears as a beautiful, innocent and charming woman.
