Evaluation Question 7

Evaluation Question 7

What did we learn from our continuity Task? (Video above)

When doing our continuity task we learnt multiple different things. Firstly, it gave us an opportunity to experiment with different shot types. These include, Close ups, mid and long shots, over-shoulder shots, and the tracking shot technique. Also, in some situations we had to consider and apply the 180 degree rule in order to capture characters in conversation properly in order to position the audience correctly. Once we had captured all of our footage, we used Final Cut Pro to put it together and edit it which gave us basic skills of how to operate the program.

During the production of the continuity task what did we come across and how did you learn from this?

During the exercise, we encountered several mistakes and problems we learned from. Firstly, we realised the ambient sounds included made it difficult to hear the dialogue between characters so we had to take that into account. Also, we had not experimented with the use of the 180 degree rule before, which resulted in in-accurate and incorrect shot's. Finally, we realised we had to go into more depth with the characters. This meant better costumes and props to make clear to the audience who they are and what they stand for.

In the final product, how did we ensure we didn't make the same mistakes?

By getting the final product correct and clear from previous mistakes that could have occurred, we analysed them from our continuity task. Once we had filmed all of the appropriate footage, we checked over it thoroughly. Furthermore, once we had edited it on Final Cut Pro we again checked it over for common editing errors.

How could we do better next time?

I believe that we could of made our final product better through one main factor: Time management. This would give us more time to plan our overall project. This means that we could of put more thought into costumes, props, more shot's, further editing idea's, artificial sounds and a more detailed storyline.

Evaluation Question 6

Evaluation Question 6

What did we use and why:

- We used a Sony 25 BDV video camera to record all of our footage in our media product. We also used a Tripod to maintain steady camera work and get an accurate shot while filming.

- We used a Track and Dolly to get additional camera shot's and angles.

- We used a DSLR Canon Camera to capture photo's during the planning and construction of our final media product.

- Finally, we used extra Lighting Equipment

In the video below, me and my partner explain how we used a mac book pro in the process of our media project and how we took advantage of certain applications for beneficial results.
